AEG To Upgrade San Diego Sports Arena
SAN DIEGO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — AEG is planning on a $2.5 million rehab of the venerable The San Diego Sports Arena, the former home of the NBA franchise, the Clippers, that will include a new nightclub.
The 6,500-square-foot Club 3500 will be a member's-only VIP club that provides private parking, a special entrance, bottle service and other perks.
In addition to the $900,000 nightclub, the arena will also see new lighting, 2,200 new seats and risers installed around the first 8 rows of the 15,000 capacity venue; 80 new LCD screens and new restrooms.
The arena, which first opened in 1966 is currently the home base for the Lingerie Football League team, the San Diego Seduction. AEG became a majority partner in the venue last year.
"This is the first step AEG has taken to really provide that next level people should expect from AEG venues,” Arena GM Ernie Hahn told the San Diego Times-Union "There will be additional improvements over time." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
