Dining With Donald And Friends At Tusker House

Publish date: 2024-08-03

The beauty and culture of Africa are on full display at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom. Guests can explore the continent’s biodiversity through Attractions like Kilimanjaro Safaris, its culture through performances by groups like the Tam Tam Drummers and the Karibu Sisters, and get a taste of its vibrant cuisine at Tusker House.

As an added bonus, Guests who dine at Tusker House will eat in the company of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy, and Goofy. Here are a few things you should know if you are planning to visit:

1. What Is It?

Tusker House is a character meal located in Harambe Village in Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom. Dining is buffet style, featuring African Cuisine. Breakfast, lunch and dinner meal times are available. Breakfast runs from 8 a.m.- 10:55 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., with dinner beginning at 4 p.m.

The ambiance is immersive, with African themed decor throughout, including a stunning ceiling draped with carpets.

2. What Does It Cost?

Costs vary based on meal time and age of the Guest. Walt Disney World’s official page lists the pricing as $35-$59 per adult. Cost for children is slightly lower, with the pricing running between $18-$30. Some meal plans are accepted, including the Disney Dining Plan and the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan. The cost of the meal on the dining plan is one entitlement.

3. What’s On the Menu?

Breakfast at Tusker house features African dishes like beef bobotie, and mealie pap, along with standard breakfast fare like eggs, bacon, potatoes and even waffles shaped like Mickey Mouse. Guests can also choose between a variety of beverages like coffee, tea, juice, and (my personal favorite) Jungle Juice. The jungle juice drink is a mixture of guava, passion fruit, and orange juice.

Lunch and dinner feature items like Peri Peri Salmon (a dish made with African bird’s eye chili), tabouli, hummus, a variety of curries (including a curried chicken), fresh breads, pita, chutney, spit roasted chicken, and more.

Vegetarian options are available and, as always, Guests with food allergies can request an allergen guide for all the foods offered at the restaurant.

Tusker House also sells several alcoholic drinks, including a sugarcane mojito, an African Margarita (Sauza Gold Tequila, Van der Hum Tangerine Liqueur from South Africa, Sweet-and-Sour, and Lime Juice), and a drink called Lost on Safari (Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Bacardi Superior Rum, and our refreshing Pangani Punch).

4. Which Characters Will You Meet?

As mentioned above, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Daisy, and Goofy are on hand to meet and interact with Guests. All four are decked out in safari gear. They make their way through the restaurant, going from table to table as the meal goes on. Characters will stop at each table and all Guests will have the opportunity to take pictures, get autographs and just have a little fun with the four Disney icons.
