League of Legends Udyr Rework 2022: New Abilities, Skins, and More

Publish date: 2024-07-19

Riot Games has officially revealed the full details of one of the highly anticipated reworks of 2022, the Udyr rework.

Because of him having a very simple kit and an outdated base model that was hardly touched since season 1, Udyr was considered one of the worst champions in League of Legends.

Even though Riot gave Udyr a small VFX update in season 10, his presence in soloq hardly increased; and as always, he was only getting picked by a small number of Udyr mains.

Except for the Turbo Chemtank meta, Udyr didn’t have much success in pro games. And the number one demand from League of Legends players was to give Udyr a full-scale rework, where he could compete with modern champions like Aphelios, Zeri, Viego, and others.

As the demand surged, Riot eventually formed a VGU poll, where The Spirit Walker had a “landslide” victory. Riot then confirmed that they heard “loud and clear” from the players, and they will bring up Udyr to modern champion standards.

Since then, there’ve been multiple blog posts from Riot; showcasing different aspects of his development process.

However, now, after months of waiting, Riot Games has officially unveiled the full changes of the 2022 Udyr rework. As it is a full-scale rework similar to Fiddlesticks and Dr. Mundo, Udyr will now have a complete overhauled kit along with updated skins & splash arts.

Here’s everything you need to know about the biggest rework of 2022, the Udyr rework.

Udyr Rework Abilities

Here are all the Udyr rework abilities:

Passive – Bridge Between

Awakened Spirit: Udyr has four basic abilities that swap between stances. He can periodically recast his active stance to Awaken it for bonus effects, with a shared cooldown between stances.

Monk Training: Each time Udyr enters or Awakens a stance, his next two attacks gain attack speed and refund some of Awaken’s cooldown.

Q – Wilding Claw

Wilding Stance: Udyr gains a burst of attack speed, and his next two attacks deal bonus physical damage.

Awaken: Udyr gains even more attack speed, and his next two attacks chain lightning off the target, bouncing up to 6 times. Lightning can strike the same target multiple times, dealing heavy damage to isolated targets.

W – Iron Mantle

Mantle Stance: Udyr gains a shield, and his next two attacks restore health.

Awaken: Udyr gains a bigger shield, his next two attacks heal even more, and he restores a percentage of his max health over the next few seconds.

E – Blazing Stampede

Stampede Stance: Udyr gains a burst of move speed. His first attack against each target while in this stance lunges a short distance and stuns them (per-unit cooldown).

Awaken: Udyr gains even more move speed and briefly becomes immune to crowd control.

R – Wingborne Storm

Storm Stance: Udyr temporarily summons a storm around him that slows and damages nearby units. His next two attacks cause the storm to pulse, dealing bonus magic damage.

Awaken: Udyr unleashes the storm, causing it to deal additional damage and chase after nearby enemies.
