Barcelona president Joan Laporta is being investigated for suspected bribery by Spanish prosecutors.

Per SkySports, he is one of seven people who are being investigated over payments of £6.3m (€7.3m) made by Barcelona to former senior referee Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira.

Laporta and Constanza’s love story isn’t told online making how they met, when they tied the knot, and how long they were married, difficult to tell.

However, it is rumored Constanza and Joan were together for 20 years, although the last few were hell in which they even lived separate lives. He left the family home in San Cugat del Vallés where he and his three children lived to settle in an apartment in Barcelona.

The couple’s marriage hit the rock as they separated in 2008 and finalised their divorce in 2010.

Journalist Pilar Eyre has alleged that Laporta and Constanza divorced because of continuous rumors of infidelity on his part. In fact, he branded the former Barca president as a “married man but with distractions.”

About Constanza Echevarría, not much is known about her personal life and what she is doing now as she lives a private life.

Following his divorce, Joan has sparked several relationship rumors with the most recent being a young woman who is 26 years his junior.

Ex-FC Barcelona boss Joan Laporta was reportedly dating a woman named Sana Khouja, who is 35 years old. Back in 2010, when they started dating, she was only 22 years old.

At the time they caught the public’s attention with their romance, snapshots published by QMD magazine showed the pair kissing, having a few glasses of cava, and smoking cigars on a terrace in Barcelona.

The large age difference between the two is striking, and the former head of the Barça club is 26 years older than the woman of Egyptian origin.

Per a report by a Spanish online outlet, the two met during Khouja’s time as an FC Barcelona employee in the marketing department.

Other names of women he has dated since separating from his spouse include Eugenia Martínez de Irujo, presenter Simona Ventura, María Lapiedra, and Brazilian Flavia Cassoli.

Per Okdiario, Cassoli, who met Joan Laporta when she was a waitress at the Hotel Arts, is the woman who broke his marriage. “Laporta is not fond of anyone. The press knew about our relationship, but he is a man of great power (…) he has a friend who looks for girls for his parties after the games. The president gave her an apartment very close to her and from the balcony they communicated with signs so that when she finished dinner she would go to Joan’s home. He also bought her a car. The Barcelona president has been charged with bribery for alleged payments meted out to former refereeing vice-president Enriquez Negreira. In the Negreira case, the previous timeline originally covered the period between 2013 and 2023.

He, among seven people, is being investigated over payments of £6.3m (€7.3m).

Joan Laporta has hit back after being charged with bribery in the scandal relating to alleged referee payments.

However, there has been a significant development in the case as Judge Joaquin Aguirre has modified the statute of limitations, extending it to 10 years from the date of the last alleged crime, which occurred in 2018. This legal change effectively expands the scope of the investigation to include events dating back to 2008. As a result of these legal adjustments, Barcelona’s president has now been charged.

But, Laporta believes that “sociological madridismo” is the reason behind the latest saga to be taking place at the Camp Nou.

“There is a sociological Madridismo in the centres of power,” he told the programme ‘Els Matins de Catalunya Radio’.

“There is a lot of force. I have competed against this sociological Madridismo and I have won. They are afraid that what happened in my first term will happen again. We won a lot and that hurt them a lot. They suffered a lot.

“Now it is repeated because we are getting better and better at all levels, sporting, economic and institutional. It has taken advantage of the Negreira case to sully the name of Barça and we cannot allow this. It exists and is protected in certain media, certain political circles and in certain sections of sport, and we have to accept it as normal. Everyone can be the team they want, but we as Barça supporters must know that and compete as we have already done, and won.”

Laporta once again insisted he had done nothing wrong and claimed that he had already been warned of his indictment by his lawyers regarding the case.

“Knowing the history of this judge (Joaquín Aguirre), we were warned by our defence team that we could end up like this (being investigated), but as there is no crime of bribery and there is no continuing crime, this cannot prosper. Moreover, it has already been appealed by most of the parties,” said the Barca president.

The Barcelona president also claimed that despite the tensions off the pitch with Real Madrid, his relationship with Florentino Perez remains cordial and welcomed him to attend El Clasico on October 28 which will be held in Catalonia.

“My relationship with Florentino (Pérez) is correct. I don’t know if he will come (for the clásico). He didn’t come to the last one. I would like him to come because the clásico is the best spectacle in the world and that both teams are represented makes the game,” he explained.
