Nebraska Scandal Involving Ashley Scoggin, Chuck Love Takes A Turn
Nebraska’s women’s basketball program found itself at the center of an unfortunate scandal this week.
Back in February of 2022, explicit details leaked out regarding an inappropriate relationship that allegedly occurred between team coach Chuck Love and one of the players, Ashley Scoggin.
Scoggin wound up transferring to a different school and Love left the program.
This week, Nebraska’s scandal took an unfortunate turn when an official lawsuit was filed. According to the legal paperwork, Scoggin is seeking compensatory and punitive damages over her civil rights being violated as well as pain and suffering she endured.

Scoggin maintains that Love “groomed her for sex by asking her out for drinks, sending her messages on SnapChat and meeting her in the parking lot of Costco, where he kissed her.”
Moreover, Love reportedly asked Scoggin at the time: “Have you ever done anything with a coach before?”
The lawsuit further states that “head coach Amy Williams punished [Scoggin] for Love’s abuse of power after teammates and Nebraska practice players created a scheme to confirm and record Scoggin’s presence in Love’s hotel room the night before they played at Penn State on Feb. 17, 2022.”

Among the listed defendants in the lawsuit are Williams and Love, as well as athletic director Trev Alberts and Nebraska’s board of regents.
This obviously isn’t the first time a coach has been linked to an inappropriate relationship, but it feels like the consequences here may be more severe than what usually happens in cases like this.
