Rammus Receives Nerf On LoL Patch 12.23B
The League of Legends Patch 12.23b is shaping up to be a very nerf heavy patch.
Patch 12.23b has just been announced, and it will be the follow-up to the massive 12.23 Patch. The patch will focus on fixing some balancing issues and enhancing solo queue performance. It will also be the last update of 2022.
The patch will include several significant improvements, including system upgrades, champion nerfs and buffs, and champion tweaks. The nerfs to Rammus, however, will be one of the more important changes in Patch 12.23b.
Rammus has traditionally done well versus AD champions and poorly against AP champions; however, the situation has altered quite a bit after the Preseason update. Rammus can now consistently deal with AP champions thanks to the release of the new tank legendary, Jak’Sho, The Protean. Jak’Sho also fixed one of Rammus’s main problems: sustain. With the item, he can now reliably keep his HP up in a team fight.
He currently has an abnormally high win rate of 55% in Platinum+ Solo-Queue, with a solid 5% pick rate. Additionally, he has a high ban rate of 43%, making him borderline overpowered. So it’s easy to understand why Rammus is receiving a nerf.
The Lead Designer of the League of Legends balance team posted Patch 12.23b changes on his Twitter Page.

Patch 12.23b Rammus Nerfs
- W – Defensive Ball Curl – Cooldown: 6 seconds ⇒ 7 seconds
- W – Defensive Ball Curl Armor: 50 ⇒ 40
- W – Defensive Ball Curl – Bonus Magic Resistance: 15 ⇒ 10
Rammus W-Defensive Ball Curl is the bread and butter of his kit, it provides armor, magic resistance and dame for Rammus. So, nerfing its cooldown, armor and magic resist is a hefty nerf.
