Why Did Snape Kill Dumbledore?
Severus Snape killed Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore because he had been asked to do so by Dumbledore himself. Dumbledore found out about Draco’s task to kill him and so asked Snape to do it instead.
Dumbledore learned he had only about a year left to live after he was cursed by Marvolo Gaunt’s ring, and although Snape contained the curse, it would spread throughout his body and kill him. Knowing his time was already drawing near and he was going to die either way, he had an arrangement with Snape to die at his hands rather than be killed by the death eaters.
Dumbledore also worked with Snape to accomplish his death so that Voldemort would trust Snape and believe his pseudo-allegiance to the death eaters. Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape are both major characters in Jk Rowling’s Harry Potter series. And whilst Dumbledore is the protagonist, Snape is an antagonist, but both of them were in cahoots because snape became a double agent.
When Does Dumbledore Die?
Dumbledore died during the second major conflict of the second wizarding war, called the Battle of the Astronomy Tower, which is also known as the Battle of the Lightning-Struck Tower. It occurred at the highest point of the astronomy tower of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry on June 30, 1997.
Harry and Dumbledore leave a beachside cave where Voldemort stashed one of his Horcruxes and get back to Hogwarts just before midnight. On top of the Astronomy Tower, Dumbledore is confronted by Draco Malfoy and Death Eaters. A conflict ensues, and Severus Snape kills Albus Dumbledore.
What Movie Does Dumbledore Die?
Dumbledore dies in the 2009 movie, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”. Albus Dumbledore was the only wizard in the world whom Lord Voldemort feared, so in the sixth part of the Harry Potter movie series, which is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Voldemort secretly ordered Draco Malfoy, a sixteen-year-old Death Eater, and student at Hogwarts, to kill him.
Even though his previous assassination attempts had been unsuccessful, Draco was able to sneak a few Death Eaters into Hogwarts through a pair of Vanishing Cabinets in the Room of Requirement. There, they came into contact with several Hogwarts faculty members, students, members of Dumbledore’s Army, and Order of the Phoenix members who had been stationed at the school to provide security at the request of both Dumbledore and Harry Potter.
Severus Snape murdered Albus Dumbledore as the Order of the Phoenix and the Death Eaters engaged in combat. It was later discovered that the murder was a covert plot between Dumbledore and Snape because Dumbledore would have died anyways because he donned Marvolo Gaunt’s cursed ring, a Horcrux, and was already subject to a fatal curse that would have eventually killed him.
Why Did Dumbledore Have to Die?
Although Dumbledore was already going to die from wearing Marvalo Gaunt’s ring, which is the second Horcrux, there is a much deeper reason why he had to die, especially in the hands of Snape, instead of dying from the curse or at the hands of the death eaters.
Dumbledore’s death played a very significant role in the entire story. The main significance of his death was that it bolstered Voldemort’s trust in Snape. Dumbledore’s death helped Snape regain the Dark Lord’s trust, thereby making it easier for Snape to devise a successful plan to finally kill Voldemort. Additionally, his death released the elder wand and preserved Draco Malfoy’s soul. His death also provided the setting for the series conclusion.
How Does Dumbledore Die?
Harry and Dumbledore flew to the Astronomy tower with brooms from behind Madam Rosmerta’s bar as the Battle of the Astronomy Tower had already begun. When they got to the Astronomy Tower, Draco Malfoy confronted Dumbledore, and an already invisibility cloaked Harry. Still, before Harry could reveal himself, he was immobilized with a silent Full Body Bind curse by Dumbledore.
Whilst disarming Dumbledore, Malfoy revealed that he was responsible for the string of assaults on Hogwarts students and that Voldemort had given him the order to kill Dumbledore. Dumbledore also revealed that he was aware of Draco’s mission and the attempts on his life involving the Opal Necklace and poisoned mead. However, he still permitted Draco to stay at Hogwarts because he knew Voldemort would kill him if he was expelled and exposed.
Dumbledore then pledged to keep Draco and his mother hidden so that Voldemort would never find them while also offering him protection. And despite the encouragement and arrival of numerous Death Eaters that Draco snuck into the castle, Draco could not bring himself to kill the Headmaster.
However, Snape arrived at the Tower after Filius Flitwick summoned him to help the order of the phoenix, but he instead killed Dumbledore after the headmaster had begged him in a way that concealed their agreement, blasting his body off the tower, unto the ground below.
Dumbledore’s body was discovered by Harry after the battle, lying dead on the ground in front of a large crowd of onlookers with his body broken from the fall.
Did Dumbledore Really Die?
Yes, Dumbledore died, as his death scene clearly shows. The primary proof of Dumbledore’s death is the fact that when he fell from the tower, the spell that bound Harry Potter in place was broken. Given what is known about how spells work, Dumbledore would have to be dead for the spell to be broken. In addition, Dumbledore is seen in the portraits of previous headmasters, all of whom are deceased.
Did Dumbledore Know He Was Going to Die?
Yes, Dumbledore knew he was going to die after he figured out that the curse from the Marvalo Gaunt’s ring would spread and kill him eventually. And that was why he had an agreement with snape to kill him once it was time, and that opportunity for snape to carry out their agreement presented itself at the Battle of the Astronomy tower.
Does Dumbledore Come Back?
No, Dumbledore doesn’t come back. His death at the hands of Severus Snape was final. As heartbreaking as it was for fans of the Harry Potter Series, Dumbledore’s life ended when Snape killed him, and he never came back to life. Although he was a very strong character, his death is crucial to the story’s progression.
